Rules for access to the Cable Car

Without prejudice to the right of admission referred to in what follows, users of the Teleférico del Teide must assess, in advance, their capacity to use the facilities, in order to avoid endangering health, safety or the normal operation of the service.

Specifically, they must avoid using Teleférico del Teide’s service in the following circumstances:

  • If the user is not wearing suitable footwear: in other words, they are not wearing footwear designed for sports or mountain walking. For safety reasons, access to the cable car when wearing flip flops or sandals, shoes without a back strap, shoes with heels/wedge heels or open, flat-soled shoes is expressly prohibited.
  • If they are accompanied by animals. This rule does not apply to guide and/or therapy dogs, which are allowed.
  • Anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or in any condition that may endanger their own safety or that of other service users.
  • The facilities are not to be used by children under the age of 16 unless accompanied at all times by an adult.
  • If the user has symptoms of altitude sickness, nausea, a temperature, physical pain or illness—or if they have a cardiovascular or neurological disease or other serious illness.
  • People with cardiovascular conditions, pregnant women, and children under the age of 3 are not allowed on the Cable Car, because of the risks posed to their health by the altitude. If you have any health problems, please consult your doctor before planning your visit or booking your Teleférico del Teide tickets. People with diverse physical or motor functionality are not allowed to use the Cable Car because, due to the technical conditions that exist in the National Park, it cannot be guaranteed that they can be safely evacuated in the time allowed by the regulations.
  • In general, if the user’s capabilities are impaired in a way that could interfere with the normal operation of the cable car.
  • If a user behaves in an aggressive manner or is disrespectful of the surroundings, of other users or of Teleférico del Teide staff.

Without prejudice to the above, Teleférico del Teide staff reserve the right to refuse admission to customers and users who could pose a risk to safety, health or to the orderly running of the service, or in cases of illegal use, vandalism, or anti-social / unethical conduct in relation to admission tickets, the cable car’s surroundings and facilities or the Teide National Park itself, thereby absolving Teleférico and/or its staff from any responsibility towards them and forfeiting their right to a refund.
