Reviews of the Teide Legend Tour
- - -
It’s a bit underwhelming
As already stated
Good information and stories, could be better and maybe more interactive especially as a charged activity.
All good
Small but very informative - I liked the 2 show’s running side by side to show the different perspectives. Great views.
Make a much more clear webpage... do not even sell other tickets it only confuses....
Paper is paper
I had eagerly anticipated the exhibition and cafeteria experience, having purchased a Cafeteria Package. The exhibition, with its charming room filled with imaginative animations and artworks, lived up to my expectations. However, the overall experience was marred by disorganization. Upon entering the cafeteria, bustling with a diverse crowd, I inquired about the Cafeteria Package at the counter. To my dismay, the information provided by the waiter contradicted what I had read on the website where I made the purchase. Confusion persisted during the payment process, as the cashier, oblivious to the package, insisted on charging me for food and drinks. Despite presenting my tickets, the cashier remained uninformed about the offer. After consulting with the boss, who himself seemed uncertain about the package details, the cashier attempted to rectify the situation. While the staff's efforts to accommodate me were commendable, it left me with the impression that the whole ordeal might have been a ploy to attract visitors and then upsell them. Although the boss extended a discount on my food and drinks, I couldn't help but feel that the entire experience was misleading. I find it disheartening, and I cannot recommend this venue to my family or friends due to the lack of clarity and potential for overcharging.
Description
Visit the Teide National Park with Teide Legend, and discover the legend of Guayota
TEIDE LEGEND is a fun, new way to get to know the Teide National Park (and its legendary history).
The birth of the legend of Mount Teide
For thousands of years, the volcano, an emblem of the island of Tenerife, has been the subject of a plethora of legends passed down from one generation to the next. One of the most famous legends concerns the eruption of Mount Teide around 1,000 years ago.
Back then, the Guanches, the island’s earliest inhabitants, witnessed one of the most significant events in the history of the Canary Archipelago. Mount Teide began to emit a thundering roar while lava coursed down the sides of the volcano, completely transforming the area and the mountain that was worshipped by the population. The Guanches probably interpreted this event as a fight between mythological deities—an explanation far from that which science now attributes to volcanic eruptions.
This legend is deeply rooted in the minds of Canary islanders and today, we would like you to become part of it by visiting the “Science and Legend” exhibition in the Teide Cable Car Visitors’ Centre, where we bring together both the mythological and the scientific perspectives.
Visit the domain of Guayota!
VISIT THE “SCIENCE AND LEGEND” EXHIBITION
In the “Science and Legend” exhibition, which is housed in an impressive setting, the characters of the legend of Guayota, the gods and the Guanches, put forward their version of the volcanological events that resulted in the great eruption of Mount Teide a thousand years ago, in opposition to the scientific explanation of the various stages of the eruption.
Discover the “Science and Legend” Exhibition with Guayota, the demon of Mount Teide.
Relive the experience of that eruption, 1,000 years ago, from the perspective of science and from that of the legend, comparing the various phases of the eruption from two apparently opposing, but closely connected, perspectives.
You will have access to trusted data and at the same time, you will discover the magic of a story in which good and evil confront each other in an epic battle. Which explanation do you prefer? Are you on the side of science or on the side of legend?
This action-packed story is brought to you by its own characters: Guayota, Achamán and Magec, the gods; and the Guanches: Tassat, the Mencey and the Guañameñe. Gods and humans in the most epic legend about Mount Teide.
Did you know that the Guanches mummified their dead? Several Guanche mummies have been discovered in the Teide National Park, and you’ll see a replica of one of them in the exhibition! We will explain the process they undertook to preserve the dead.
We have great news for you if you’re travelling with children: admission to the exhibition is free for children up to the age of 13.
Would you like to visit the exhibition and ascend by cable car too? Remember that when you purchase a cable car ticket, access to the exhibition is included, so there is no need to book an additional admission ticket for the exhibition.
Live the Teide legend!
Once your visit to the exhibition is over, you can continue your tour of the Visitors’ Centre in our official souvenir shop, where you can find the perfect memento of your TEIDE LEGEND experience. For the finishing touch to your visit, why not treat your taste buds with delicious local dishes in Spain’s highest restaurant-cafeteria, while enjoying extraordinary views of the National Park?
And remember that when you buy a ticket to the TEIDE LEGEND EXHIBITION, your entitled to a discount equivalent to the cost of your ticket on food and drink purchased in the restaurant and snack bar, or on purchases in the official souvenir shop. Not applicable to the combined packages of admission ticket to the exhibition + comic or café package, as already applied to the end price.

Here’s a recommendation for the youngest children and fans of comics: you can give them a fantastic comic that tells the story of the eruption of Mount Teide in full colour. They will meet Guayota, the evil spirit of Mount Teide, and Achamán, the god of the skies. Who will win the battle?
